The unit Biomass & Energy Efficiency focusses on research and technology development for the areas of i) thermo-chemical conversion of biomass into energy and chemicals, ii) efficient use of energy in the process industry, and iii) CO2 capture. The unit consists of four groups: Bio-energy, Sustainable Process Technology, Thermal Systems en Bio-refinery & Processing.
The group Bio-energy specializes in technology development for upgrading and efficient production of high-quality energy carriers from biomass or biowaste, such as through torrefaction and gasification. The resulting breakthroughs in technology are further developed and commercialized in close collaboration with industrial partners.
We have an opening for a Mechanical Engineer in research and development projects in the area of upgrading and conversion of biomass/waste. These projects aim at the development of innovative technology to convert biomass into higher grades of energy in the most efficient and cost effective way. It is of key importance that industrialization aspects such as reliability and manufacturability are taking into account in an early stage of development. The current function takes responsibility for this.
The projects are executed in close collaboration with industry and knowledge institutes, in both national and international research frameworks.
