The Sustainable Economic Development (SED) department focuses on promotingGreenEntrepreneurship (GE). The urgency as well as the possibility for such kind of entrepreneurship can mainly be found in rural areas where the majority of the poor lives. In a context of degrading natural resources, climate change and increasing energy prices entrepreneurial people in these areas benefit from a more environmentally sound development. The GE program’s objective is to increase the capacities of rural men and women and small and medium enterprises to improve their businesses in a sustainable way. The program equally contributes to the development of a supportive green and inclusive financial sector as well as renewable energy sectors, whilst at the same time striving for environmentally and socially sound development policies in the field of agriculture and energy at the national and international level.
