ECN Solar Energy
The overall focus of ECN's unit Solar Energy is to carry out research on the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity, i.e. the field of photovoltaics (PV). Within the unit, 80 employees develop solar cells and modules with the ambition to enhance conversion efficiencies, to improve reliability and lifetime, and to lower the cost of PV systems and components. We have established a worldwide network in which we cooperate with universities, research institutes and PV industry. Our R&D portfolio comprises wafer-based crystalline silicon solar cells, thin-film solar cells and module technology.
In the group Silicon PV Manufacturing Technology twenty scientists and engineers develop, test and apply innovative process technology for silicon solar cell manufacturing. Clients are the world-wide PV industry and its materials- and equipment suppliers. As the Senior Manager Silicon PV Manufacturing Technology, you are responsible for managing the day-to-day business in the group. You are accountable for the realisation of the established objectives and the policy. You draw up the operational and financial plans and monitor and enhance the quality, quantity and timely completion of the (production) process. You supervise the laboratories and projects and carry responsibility for the quality and research in the group. You are responsible for work carried out in the laboratories, where safety comes first. You and your colleagues, together with colleagues from the Business Development team will be in frequent contact with the customer network. You are part of the management team of the unit. In addition you are, as unit-QSHE manager, responsible for (co-) developing and implementing the quality, safety, health and environment policy within the entire unit Solar Energy. You are reporting directly to the Director Solar Energy.
You have a graduate academic degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. You have worked for at least five years in research and development. Preferably, you have experience in silicon solar cell- or semiconductor processing. You are an experienced people manager with strong analytical skills and you are used to planning, delegating and monitoring. You enjoy working with fellow professionals and are able to bring out the best in them. You create space for personal development without losing sight of the intended results.
