The unit Biomass & Energy Efficiency conducts research on the thermochemical conversion of biomass in energy and chemicals, research on the efficient use of energy in the process industry, and reserach on the capture of CO2. This research is carried out in four groups: Sustainable Process Technology, Thermal Systems, Bio Energy, and Bio Refinery & Processing.
The group Thermal Systems carries out projects on the efficient production and use of thermal energy in cooperation with end users, equipment manufacturers, system suppliers, process developers, and universities. Main focus here is the development of high temperature heat pumps, compact heat storage, and the implementation thereof.
You will contribute to projects on development and integration of thermal components and systems in industrial processes. Your contribution focuses on performing feasibility studies, model calculations, and system analyses. The projects are carried out in close cooperation with industry and other knowledge institutes, in both national and international consortia.
Your profile, education and experience
You have an academic degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or applied physics with knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and energy technology. You are familiar with research on the economic feasibility of industrial investments. You are able to analyse complex problems and situations. You see chances and opportunities for innovation. You deliver high quality products and services.
Preferably you have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. Your written and oral communication skills, both in Dutch as in English, are excellent. You are both a team player and a researcher who is able to plan and organise its own work in an efficient way.
