LineSolar is developing a solar panel technology that will make solar electricity competitive with fossil fuel-based electricity in many regions. LineSolar’s MLC solar panel technology delivers 32% higher efficiency at 40% lower production costs compared to today’s most competitive solar PV panels. Installations based on MLC will produce electricity at $ 0,04 – 0,09 per kWh (depending on solar irradiance).
LineSolar is a young and dynamic technology development company that operates “labless and fabless”. Our product – the MLC solar panel – is in development with first test results expected by end of 2013. At that point we will release more information about the technology to solar market. LineSolar has a small but experienced team and a growing patent portfolio. We cooperate with many companies and institutions partners for development, production and sales.
It is our mission to eliminate cost barriers for solar PV panels, so that solar power can supply an increasing share of global energy needs. LineSolar aims to contribute in the shift to a low-carbon, renewable-based economy.
Momentarily we are looking for:
Internship (3-6 months)
LineSolar offers the opportunity to work as an intern on the development of the MLC technology. The project can last 3-6 months, preferably in the final years of your MSc degree in Electrical Engineering.
The project is centered on the design of the electrical wiring and by-pass diodes for the MLC solar PV module. How many cells to connect in series and how many in parallel, given typical shading conditions? Which geometry for sub-strings? Which by-pass diodes to select?
Depending on the progress and the length of the internship it may include further topics:
- Overall PV module electrical resistance calculation
- Impact on the electrical layout due to 1kV insulation requirement
- Design and construction of basic prototypes and a test setup
- Analysis of adding a micro inverter / power optimizer for each panel
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a good academic track record, who is curious, works independently and can generate creative solutions.
