ECN Solar Energy
The overall focus of ECN's unit Solar Energy is to carry out research on the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity, i.e. the field of photovoltaics (PV). Within the unit, 80 employees develop solar cells and modules with the ambition to enhance conversion efficiencies, to improve reliability and lifetime, and to lower the cost of PV systems and components. We have established a worldwide network in which we cooperate with universities, research institutes and PV industry. Our R&D portfolio comprises wafer-based crystalline silicon solar cells, thin-film solar cells and module technology.
As a senior manager you are responsible for the day-to-day management of a group of about 20 researchers within the business unit Solar Energy. The scientists and engineers develop, test and apply innovative photovoltaic technology.

You are accountable for the optimal deployment of the professionals and other resources in your team to achieve the best possible results in terms of technology development
You are responsible for both the technical and the personal development of the employees in your team
You are accountable for the realization of the established objectives of your group.
You draw up the operational and financial plans of your group, and contribute to the plans of the unit
You are responsible for the overall execution of the R&D activities within your group. You supervise the project leaders in your group and monitor the progress of their projects.
You supervise the laboratories and carry responsibility for the quality of the work delivered by the researchers and consultants
You are reporting directly to the Director Solar Energy. As a member of the management team, you participate in the development and execution of the vision and strategy for the whole unit.
a graduate degree (Master or Doctorate) in physics, chemistry or electrical engineering.
worked for at least five years in research and development.
preferably, experience in silicon solar cell- or semiconductor processing.
an experienced people manager with strong analytical skills
used to planning resources and projects,
smart in delegating and monitoring.
